Do Beliefs Shape Reality?

Our beliefs are what keeps us going everyday. Beliefs are the basis for the decisions we make and the actions we take. Beliefs shape reality in two ways:

1. Beliefs are the foundations and building blocks of behavior. What we believe in shapes our thoughts which then shapes are actions. If you have positive beliefs, it will lead to positive action. Negative beliefs lead to negative actions. Beliefs are meant to be questioned, changed and improved upon. Do not stay stuck in one belief, but be open to change when necessary.

2. All beliefs are challenged. No matter where you are in life, our beliefs will be challenged. Each person has different life experiences and circumstances and disagreements will come. However, instead of shunning and ignoring their beliefs, listen to them. Ask questions and understand their point of view. This way, when you respond back, they will more likely listen to you because you took the time to understand them.

Think about your most cherished beliefs and what impact it has made in your life.

Strategy for Life’s Problems

Strategies provide us with a sense of power and confidence in the things that we do. To be strategic could mean the difference between life and death.

1. Do well in all that you do. Make an effort to do your best in each and everything that you do. By doing so, you develop yourself as a person with high standards. By having high standards gives you a sense of confidence and power. Don’t let the high standards close you from alternate methods and ideas, but don’t lower your standards to accept mediocrity.

2. Keep your mind and body active. Keeping your mind and body active keeps it primed for whatever life has to throw at you. By making the effort to exercise, read books, or learn a new language, your mind is ready to solve problems. By doing this, we cultivate a a solutions-based mindset prepared for any setback.

3. Believe in Yourself. The most important strategy, to believe in yourself means that no matter what, you will persevere in struggle. A positive belief can include the following:

  1. Believe that you can learn a foreign language.
  2. Believe that you can be a public speaker.
  3. Believe that you can overcome an argument with a friend.
